The serve is without question the most difficult stroke in the game of tennis - biomechanically speaking. It also happens to be THE MOST IMPORTANT shot as well. The inability to start the points destroys any chance of winning that point so having a consistent and strong serve is a must to be competitive in today's game.
The goal of this video is simply an attempt to summarize such a complex stroke in such a way that the foundations are understandable. There are a million videos that can be (and have been) produced that delve deeper into each stage but it's just impossible to say everything that needs to be said in a single video. I did try though! My original was close to an hour long... Then I quickly said, "Who in the world would sit through that?!" So I cut and cut and cut down to what is here. Definitely not an easy task. The only comfort was knowing that I would be able to make future videos to fill out the content.
So with that in mind, I hope this video achieves what is intended: to help new-intermediate players really nail down the basic elements that form a real weapon, thereby making the game of tennis that much more enjoyable.
Enjoy!
