Learn to make Green Moong Dal Appe at home using this recipe by Amrita Raichand.

✅ These Appe can be enjoyed as a snack, breakfast dish or even as a side dish!

✅ With its appealing taste & bite-sized shape, these appe are perfect for children when they want to quickly finish eating so not to waste play time 😅

✅ Full of fiber and protein, so despite their small size they will keep kids full for long!

Ingredients:
Green gram lentil (Hara moong dal)- ½ cup (washed & soaked for 2-3 hours)
Ginger - ½ inch
Green chillies - 1 (or as per your spice preference)
French beans(finely chopped) - 2 tbsp
Carrot(finely chopped)- 2 tbsp
Onion (finely chopped)- 2 tbsp
Salt- to taste
Oil - for greasing the appe pan
Water to adjust the consistency

Method:
1. In a mixer grinder jar, add soaked green moong dal along with green chilli & ginger. Grind to a coarse paste without adding any water.
2. Transfer the mixture to a bowl & whisk it to incorporate air & smooth the mixture. (this process makes the appe light)
3. Now add water a little at a time & keep whisking.
4. Once you see the consistency has changed & gets lighter in color, add chopped beans, carrots & onions.
5. Season with salt & mix all together.
6. Now add some more water & whisk it till you get a dropping consistency mixture.
7. Once done, cover & keep it aside to rest for 10-15 mins.
8. Heat an appe pan, add drops of oil in every mold & swirl the pan so all the sides are greased well.
9. Take a spoonful of the mixture & pour it into each appe mold, let them cook on a low flame.
10. Once the appe starts leaving the sides flip them with the help of a toothpick ( you can use a spoon as well) & cook them till they are golden brown & crisp.
11. Insert a toothpick in the appe, and if it comes up clean, it means it is cooked 😀. (It takes around 4-5 mins to cook well)
12. Now pack these cute appes in a tiffin box, along with crunchy popcorn by the side.
