I bought a very cheap 5 Series about a year ago. It was 10 years old and had done 125,000 miles.

I’ve spent a fair amount of time and money repairing all the stuff that was wrong with it so here’s my guide to what to look for if you’re thinking of buying one yourself.

This guide is based on the E60 / E61 model 5 Series but you may find some points useful if buying any BMW.
