Liu Yi, the Chinese Watercolor whisperer, has travelled 10.000 km, all the way from his native Shanghai, to discover ancient cultures and modern cities in Spain. He adores the sun and the colors of the Mediterranean coast, just the same that has inspired so many painters, from Dali to Miró, Martínez Lozano and so many others. This is a land of painters, so Liu Yi had to be here.
He gave a workshop in June 2014 and in 2015 he will be back again in June for two courses, a GENERAL course and an advanced PORTRAIT COURSE.
In this opportunity he is painting in Girona, in Independence square, the heart of Girona that reunites the medieval world of the city with the modern facilities. This is the square that Alvaro Castagnet has fallen in love with and painted every single angle of it.
Today he's painting the arches and the Bar Boira at the far end.
He's using a pure watercolor technique with full control of the amount of pigment and water. This time he hasn't wet the paper on both sides, but it's still atmospheric.
Liu Yi's paintings transmit a sensitivity and respect for the subjects he paints. A kind of veneration that shows in his paintings.
Don't miss him, this is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the best watercolor masters in the world.
