In part 1 the problem was not that it was actually "over wound" (as many folks chose to point out) but the way most people describe the problem when their music box is wound all the way and does not play. . In part one "How to Fix and overwound Music Box, the problem was a misaligned on / off plunger.
Actually a musical movement is never really over wound but there is something in the gear train preventing it from playing. It only takes a minute amount of dust, some dried out grease, or a crack in a gear to prevent the movement from playing.
This video shows how to get a music box movement going again when the problem is not the start stop mechanism. This will work for the Swiss and German made musical movements. Gaining access to the movement will be different depending on the style of the case and how it was made.
The Asian made movements are novelties and were not engineered to be repaired. But, you can try it. I will work on the 1950s and earlier models.
