Eva Torrez hails from a musical family so early influences were plentiful, Along with her Father being a musician her three Brothers also grew up in the world of music Richard, Ben & Sam. In the early eighties she began her professional career with the popular Albuquerque group “Brazada” She was with this successful group for the better part of the Eighties. They recorded a complete album and she would later return and record some additional singles. Then came the nineties and the founding of the group Eva & the Cast. It was back to a family affair as the band had united her and her brothers. The group enjoyed much success for some where around fifteen years. During that time they released two complete albums with one of the cuts “Ship of Fools” literally becoming their signature song, it has garnished more than thirty years of airplay and continues to do so even today. In the early two thousands Eva made a big move out of her familiar genre of music and went into the field of Mariachi recording an Album with the well established Group Leo Gurule & Mariachi Nuevo Mexico. That eventually led to being the feature Artist at a major show at the Legendary Kimo Theater. This happened around 2012. The show was video taped and became a wonderful concert available today. A second show happened again featuring Eva and this took place at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in 2016. following suit it had both Mariachi and a variety show. Other accolades include the New Mexico Hispano Music Association 1993 Original Song of the Year for ‘Ship of Fools’ 2002 Song of the Year for ‘Ojos De Mi Madre’ written by Michael E. Sanchez plus a Quince Grande Award in 2012 for ‘Un Dia A La Vez’
