"Mhasa is an ancient village in Thane district's Murbad taluka. Located approximately 42 km from Karjat and 10 km from Murbad, this village is home to the ancient temple of Mhasoba, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The village derives its name from the Mhasoba temple. The Mhasoba Yatra, renowned for its decades-long tradition of bull trading, is a prominent event here. The market buzzes with activity, especially for purchasing bulls. The pilgrimage spans ten days, starting from the full moon day in the month of Poush. Around 200 to 250 acres of land are dedicated to the bull market. Traders from Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat flock to this event annually. The sale of bulls commences on the eleventh day of the dark fortnight of Poush. The Yatra attracts vendors selling a variety of goods, including clothing, sweets, toys, blankets, Ghongadi (traditional Marathi blankets), Solapuri shawls, Meesur, Khaja, and more. Numerous stalls and entertainment acts like circuses, 'Maut Ka Kua' (Well of Death), giant wheels, swings, and comedy shows add a lively touch to the festival, creating a bustling marketplace and a vibrant atmosphere."
