Paradise in the West Sea overlooking Kujukushima/Walk around the island village East China Sea Takashima (Nagasaki Prefecture)

A seahorse-shaped island that appears before your eyes as you leave Ainoura Port in Sasebo City. When viewed from offshore, the right half is a dense mountain forest, with Mt. Bandake at the southern end, the highest point, at 138 meters above sea level. The northern half has a flat, gentle shape. Most people are engaged in fishing, and there is one kamaboko chikwa manufacturing business. In the northern part of the island, there is a pearl farm run by a private pearl company. The Miyanomoto ruins in the center date from the Jomon period to the Kofun period, and more than 40 human bones buried in sarcophagi and turtles have been excavated from a cemetery dating back to the Yayoi period. In the 2017 survey, three new stone graves were confirmed, and almost complete human bones were found in one of them. In ancient times, Matsuura clan used to use Umamaki, and at the end of the Edo period, a watchtower for foreign ships was placed on Mt. Bandake.
