Waloyo Yamoni is a movement from Christopher Tin’s classical crossover album, The Drop That Contained the Sea, released in 2014. The album consists of 10 commissioned works based on the theme of water, each sung in a different language. Waloyo Yamoni, meaning ‘we overcome the wind’, is written in the Luo language of Lango, native to Uganda, and is based on the lyrics of an old rainmaking prayer. This piece is presented with solo tenor, mezzo-soprano, choir and orchestra.
