Today we find out if Sully could have made it back to the airport, after his Airbus A320 was involved in a bird strike just 2 minutes after departure.

The 2009 ditching in the river Hudson resulted in a massive rescue effort, as ordinary people, tour boat operators, and rescue workers in New York pulled together, resulting in a 100% survival rate.

The "Miracle on the Hudson," involving US Airways Flight 1549 was turned into a film, Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger's expert handling of the situation, after a bird strike disabled almost all thrust from both engines, led to an emergency water landing on the Hudson River. All 155 passengers & crew survived, showcasing a lifetime's worth of aviation skill, and a cool head during an emergency response. This incident highlighted the importance of pilot experience, quick decision-making, and the effectiveness of safety protocols in aviation. It also reinforced the critical role of teamwork and cooperation in crisis situations. The event has since been used in pilot training programs, emphasizing the value of remaining calm and resourceful in emergencies.
