Documenting the cumulative health benefits of ecological restoration and community revitalization remains a key challenge for environmental and social sciences. Exposure to greenspace or improved local environments is well-associated with health benefits, but how those area improvements convey positive impacts and what barriers exist to individuals receiving them is not well characterized.

Dr. Kristen Rappazzo, a research epidemiologist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will discuss ongoing work on how environmental improvements impact human health, how these benefits are achieved, and the obstacles that may prevent people from accessing them.
