Before the break of dawn, elderly women can be seen amidst the trees on Jirisan Mountain picking wild tea leaves. Meanwhile, the monk at a small hermitage of Hwaeomsa Temple get ready to roast the tea leaves.
The tea leaves are roasted in a preheated gamasot (cauldron) and they are rubbed and kneaded to evenly distribute the moisture. Once they are dried, they are ready for consumption.
Check out the process of making tea leaves cultivated in the wild where the conditions are optimal for tea plant growth.
