This week I decided to cast Naruto's Kunai out of Aluminum, and then test it to see how an aluminum version of this Kunai would hold up. Naruto is a staple in the Anime community. This show is one of the first Shonen Jump anime that most people watch. This Anime Kunai has an iconic look and is a mainstay in Naruto CosPlay.

For this build I first made a 3d print (linked below) of Naruto's Kunai. I then made a mold of the Kunai using plaster. I then made a funnel, and a vent hole. To ensure that i would get a good looking cast.
Plaster is great for metal casting because it can withstand the heat from the molten metal. Not shown in the video but i also placed the plaster in the oven and set it to 350. I then let it bake for a few hours to remove any excess moisture.
I placed the mold in a bucket of sand to catch any of the molten metal that fell out of the mold. I then cleaned up the cast with a belt sander, and some JB weld epoxy.
For the test I made a target and saw how well it held up to blunt impact, as well as its ability to stick into the mold.
