The wind on the east coast of Florida has been horrendous lately. I decided it was a good opportunity to hit the sheltered backcountry of the west coast in search of my favorite flats fish: redfish and snook. I loaded up the Vibe Sea Ghost 130 and made the quick drive from Miami to Sanibel at 4 in the morning. Initially, the wind was quite bad and I feared I'd made the trip for nothing. However, it eventually died down and the fishing continued to improve throughout the day. It culminated with an epic session of reds and snook on my own private oyster bar island in about 10 inches of water. All in all, great way to spend a day.
