Sustainability Leaders Program (SLP) 2024 Punjab Week1 webinar!!
After two months of inter-departmental coordination between the School Education Department and the Department of Local Government, along with engaging National Social Service Volunteers as mentors, and completing school enrollments and student registrations, the 8-week Sustainability Leaders Program 2024 for high school students has officially launched in Punjab!
We now have over 28,000 students from 461 schools, along with 129 community facilitators, participating from across all 23 districts of the state.
Today, we conducted our first-week webinar, moderated by Ms. Surekha Thakur, Assistant Project Director, SAMAGRA and State Nodal Officer for SLP 2024. I had the privilege of delivering the opening presentation, introducing the program details and the principles of solid waste management. This was followed by insightful talks from Ms. Ginni Duggal, District Education Officer of SAS Nagar (Mohali), and Ms. Preeti Bansal, District Nodal Officer for SLP 2023 Mohali, who shared their experiences from last year’s program. Dr. Puran Singh, the State Project Director for the Clean India Mission (Urban), concluded the webinar by emphasizing the importance of waste segregation at source and inspiring students to become sustainability ambassadors in their communities.
