This West German documentary shows how the Brandenburg Gate, which until recently served as a crossing point between West and East Berlin, is sealed off. The GDR soldiers pull barbed wire, while police officers on the West Berlin side try to hold back the angry crowds.
At the sector border, the GDR government sets up water cannons and tanks to intimidate both West and East Berliners.
A group of small children and their teachers appear and the children present the GDR soldiers with the flowers they have brought with them. Meanwhile, the Wall is being built in the background.
“Let's look at the faces of some of the soldiers,” the reporter asks the viewers of the time while close-ups of them are shown. “Who knows what's going on inside you...”
