DC video games as of late have been on the decline in comparison to the titles that were released previously, such as Injustice 2, Lego Batman, and many others. Gotham Knights and Rocksteady's most recent Suicide Squad game have marked the beginning of WB's troubles in DC gaming. Gotham Knights is a third-person, open-world action RPG based on the mythos of Batman and the Bat Family. It operates independently from the continuity of the Rocksteady Batman: Arkham franchise. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is the latest video game based on DC Comics and enters the Batman: Arkham Universe five years after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight. It marks Rocksteady's first major release since 2015 and features a mind-controlled Justice League as a consequence of Brainiac's invasion. The Justice League roster includes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Green Lantern, while playable characters from the Suicide Squad include Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang. However, the game's release raises questions about how it connects to the Arkham series, and some of the inconsistencies that arise with Harley's relationship with the Joker. Some critics find inconsistencies in the plot and character portrayals, arguing that the narrative doesn't effectively tie into the established Arkhamverse.
