Cancer is an insanely destructive and debilitating disease. It's easily the worst thing that's ever happened to me, and most cancer patients probably feel the same way.

That said, a stage 4 metastatic melanoma diagnosis and the life that comes with it has taught me some things, including:

1) Patience
2) Empathy
3) Appreciation
4) Telling people how I feel

Getting cancer as a young adult was never something I imagined encountering. I make these vlogs because I believe there is a lot we can all learn collectively by sharing our story. Even though I would never choose cancer, it would be ridiculous for me to go through this human experience without taking any positives away from it.

Hopefully sharing my positive growth from a terrible experience can help someone see their version of this element. It isn't easy, and I don't want to give cancer any recognition it doesn't deserve, but it's worth acknowledging.
