25 students from the College of Media and Communications (CMC) of the University of Cambodia (UC) had a study tour to visit Takin Foreign Language Center in Svay Rieng province on November 10, 2018.

This study tour aims to provide students practical experiences outside classroom by exposing them to the communities, learning to write news stories, reporting and interviewing in the community.

Students feel excited to learn writing and interviewing on news reporting and they are appreciated to have similar trip to enhance their knowledge for learning experiences outside theoretical lessons in class.

Takin Foreign Language Center established in 2014 by May Titthara, currently News Editor at Khmer Times and also a faculty member of CMC.

The center has provided 244 pupils free of charge on English study and they have been encouraged by parents who can’t afford study at private English class to send their children here to learn both English and computer skills.

Thara said that he had to spend between $700 and $850 per month to run the center in which most of the expense are from his own and charitable support.
