With the promise of fast times, free entry for those that can qualify underneath the cutoff time and a pancake flat course. It was difficult not to resist the temptation to race at the Wilne 10k. A week out from the Great North Run, skirting on the edge of marathon training and one eye on the further distance, I’ll either be sharp or it will be a decent workout pushing through the paces.

Naomi’s using it as a nice leveller and confidence boost before toeing the line at the Great North Run as well. Stepping back into the game after the niggle that she refused to call an injury. She’s cross trained, absorbed all the miles that she can out of the bike and used her triathlon and swimming background to jump in the pool, maintain a lot of fitness and ensure she can still keep her aerobic engine.
