This mod allows you to turn off the Mitsubishi Traction Control system on your Generation 4 Pajero or Montero / Shogun. It will take about 30-45 minutes to complete.

This is a particularly useful mod if you offroad in soft sand. The Mitsi Traction control system will always apply brakes to a wheel that has lost traction in a 4x4 situation, to try and transfer power to the opposite wheel. In soft sand / dune climb situations this will result in a momentary loss of momentum as the brake is applied. This modification allows you to turn that system off, a feature not offered as standard on this model. The standard system allows you to turn off the automatic stability control (ASC) however this does not turn off traction control (TC), which is what a lot of people want to do.

I am fitting a front diff locker in the future. This mod is also a preventative mod, which will stop the Mitsubishi Traction control ECU from applying TC / Brakes to either of the front wheels which will be locked together. Of course if both wheels are locked they should be moving in unison however if for some reason the ECU detects wheelspin, it may try to apply either of the front brakes / TC which would not be optimal in a front locker scenario.

For this mod you will need:

Plastic panel removal tool or small flat head screwdriver
10mm socket & Ratchet
Philips head screw driver
1 x small piece of electrical heat shrink (small size)
1 x 1m piece of small gauge wire
1 x 12v switch SPST, in your chosen style.
2 x female blade connectors to suit small gauge wire to connect the two wires to your switch
1 x round / ring terminal connector for earthing out the output wire from your switch
Solder and a soldering iron.
