Enzo Ferrari often had moments of believing he was bigger and better than everybody else, and would often have meltdowns and make threats when he felt things were conspiring against him. He was Enzo Ferrari, and you didn't mess with that. It's said that if you wanted to speak to him, you had to go to Maranello. He never went the other way.

So when the FIA refused to homologate a GT car and the Italian Racing Authorities wouldn't help a homie out, he handed back his racing license and instead had his mate in America enter his cars on his behalf for the remaining two races of the 1964 season.
