Less than 40 kms from Perth CBD, Walyunga National Park has four walking trails, which also make amazing running trails. It is best during late winter and early spring when the Avon River is in full flow.

This video explores the Echidna Trail, an 11-km loop with 340m of elevation and a maximum 18% gradient. To avoid the crowds, I recommend starting and finishing at the second car park at Boongarup Pool. Running the extra km or so back to Syd's Rapids makes for a picturesque finish and allows for a cool-down back to the car.
