Today, Graeme Newton embarks on a new series from the book of Ruth, entitled The Road to Redemption. The title of this first message is Responding to God's Hand in Hard Times. Two books in the Old Testament bear the names of women but are remarkable and beautiful in different ways. One is the book of Ruth. The story of a Moabite woman who, through God's providence, was brought into the people and the country of Israel. However, more than that, she became part of the very genealogy of the Saviour of the world, Jesus Christ.

The other book of the Bible that bears the name of a woman is the Book of Esther. Esther is about a Jewish woman who was enabled by God to save her people from those who would destroy them. God placed Esther in the right place at the right time.

Today our attention will be on faith. A father, a mother, and a family setting the stage for what is to come. It's imperative to gain a correct understanding of the story of Ruth. We know that context is important to a passage of scripture, so let's see what's happening, what's being said, and why.

Remember: Parents, we are not going to be here forever. Ministering to our children about God and the things of God is very important!
