This quick video shows you how to use the Raster Function (Surface) Hillshade and the Layer Blend tool.
In the video, I load an ESRI Basemap (just as an example) and an SRTM TIF layer.
The SRTM elevation layer is then subject to the Hillshade function
I then use the Multiply option in Layer Blend

It creates a pseudo-3D visual of your map. Lots of cool effects can be created with just these 2 tools by playing with all the options.
