This is a story, about how one woman who lived in a deprived part of London, decided to bring people together and create a sense of community - something which is sadly, so hard to find in London.

Fly-tipping was a huge problem in our area. But that was about to change. As a community, we created a mural - and was also recognised by the Croydon mayor himself. I also gave a speech on this special day.

After many hours of hard work, the design was finally coming together. Many residents had now left their homes and were getting involved, including young children. What was special to see was residents taking care of the children, wiping their hands, providing them with gloves. Baring in mind, we had all never met before - this mural brought us together. It also sends a positive message to young children who will be made to feel safe on their street. It also reduces peoples sense of isolation. I noticed people of all ethnicities getting in involved too - everyone was equal and no one was judged.
