Fog computing and edge computing are terms that are sometimes used interchangeably - but there is a difference. Both involve bringing data computation and intelligence closer to where the data is created. But edge computing is data computation that happens in close proximity to where the data is being made, and fog computing acts as a mediator between the edge and the cloud for purposes like data filtering and analytics.
