I was born in Korea in 1989 but never met my mother because my parents were divorced when I was born. When I was 10 my grandmother, who raised me, was diagnosed with cancer and sent me to the US where my father was. She died a week after I arrived in the US. After a difficult number of years estranged from my father in the US I was able to reconnect with him and be reconciled.

Today, January 9th, I am travelling to Korea to try to find my mother. I have 17 days before I need to return to Seattle. I don't know what she looks like or what her name is now. I'm hoping that through this video I will be able to get my story into the Korean media and somehow find someone who knows my mother. I just want to see her and tell her I love her, and that I'm okay, and that I want to begin some kind of relationship. I know that it would take a miracle, but this is something I just have to try.

저는 1989 년에 한국에서 태어 났지만 제가 태어 났을 때 부모님이 이미 이혼했기 때문에 제 어머니를 만난 적이없습니다. 열살이 될 무렾, 저를 길러주신 할머니께서 암 진단을 받으시고 급히 미국에 사는 아버지한테 저를 보냈습니다. 제가 미국에 도착한 후 할머니는 일주일만에 돌아가셨습니다. 미국에 처음 와서도 아버지와의 끊긴 연을 다시 연결하고 화해하기 까지는 오랜시간이 걸렸습니다.
오늘 2013년 1월 9일 저는 한국으로 어머니를 찾으러 갑니다. 저에게 주어진 시간은 17일입니다. 우리 엄마 얼굴도 이름도 모릅니다. 제가 바라는것은 이 영상을 통해 저의 이야기를 들으신 분들 중에 방송이나 다른 매체로 저의 이야기가 전해져서 제 어머니를 찾거나 어머니를 아시는 분을 찾는것입니다. 저는 여느 아들처럼 어머니께 사랑한다고 말씀 드리고, 저는 괜찮다고 그리고 보고싶다고 전해드리고 싶습니다. 정말 어렵겠지만 저는 기적이 일어날거라고 밑고 지금 엄마 찾아서 한국에 갑니다.
