Today, 7 August 2023, is the first day of new ferry started their revenue service. Initially I had planned for the first 6:30am departure, which is the first revenue service for the new ferries, but I didn't managed to get it on time as the ferry is departing soon. I only able to film the second trip, as well as the first revenue service for "Teluk Duyung".
4 vessels had been ordered by the operator, namely Teluk Bahang, Teluk Duyung, Teluk Kampi and Teluk Kumbar. The ship is made by Damen, one journey can accumulate up to 250 passengers and 50 2-wheel vehicles. The ferry service serves between Butterworth and Georgetown. After the new ferry service is implemented, the operation of the ferry had shifted back to Pangkalan Raja Tun Uda (PRTU), which is the terminal that previous ferry stopped. After the new ferry started in service, Swettenham Pier (SPCT) is no longer been used for Penang Ferry Services.
