"Massive Protest in Namsai: 20,000 Buddhists Condemn Atrocities Against Chakma Community in Bangladesh"

A massive protest rally in Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh, saw over 20,000 Buddhist devotees come together, led by the Arunachal Pradesh Bhikkhu Sangha, to condemn the ongoing atrocities against the Buddhist community in Bangladesh's Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). The peaceful march, from Poi Pee Mau ground to the District Secretariat office, decried the violent attacks on Chakma Buddhists and other minority communities, which have led to the destruction of over 1,000 homes, businesses, and temples in Khagrachari, Rangamati, and Bandarban. The rally was marked by strong messages calling for justice and peace for the victims of the escalating violence.

Ven. Dhammakitti Mahathero and General Secretary Bhikkhu Ratnadeepa highlighted the brutality faced by the Buddhist community in the aftermath of political turmoil in Bangladesh. A memorandum was submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the High Commissioner of Bangladesh, urging action and protection for the Buddhist minorities.
