Labels matter. They matter because they can either inhibit self understanding and result in low self esteem, such as being labelled ''weird'' or ''shy'', when these labels might not be wholly appropriate, or they can facilitate self development and progress. Autism is a useful label. I was diagnosed in November 2008, and in this video I outline the steps that led to my diagnosis.
