In 1202 AD, Italian mathematician Leonardo Fibonacci formulated the Fibonacci sequence. Little was it known, however, even in today’s world, the significance of this sequence, and its interrelations in so many different aspects of nature and outer space. In this video, I show how the orbital resonances of two given planets in our solar system can produce stunning artwork of petal-like shapes, and the number of these petals is simply the difference between the two numbers in the orbital resonances. But what’s even more astounding, is that the number of petals fits perfectly with the two numbers in the orbital resonances, to give three consecutive numbers in the Fibonacci sequence. Of course, there is much more to this complex, geometrical and artistic perspective of the planets. Every two pairs of planets have its own resonance shape, behaving like a secret code for the planets. The exquisite orbital patterns of the planets is amplified by the sounds they make as they whizz around in the emptiness of space, and that is why the Pythagoreans 2500 years ago called it the Music of the Spheres.

Try other planets yourself and see that it works! There are, of course, some exceptions to this model in which cases, we shall approximate. Take, for example, Uranus and Neptune. They share an orbital resonance of 51:26, which is indeed in accordance with the resonance shape they form, but it does not follow the Fibonacci sequence, because 51-26 is 25, and 25,26,51, are not consecutive numbers in the Fibonacci sequence. In this case, we shall approximate the orbital resonance to be basically 2:1, which does in fact follow the sequence. The same thing can be said for Earth and Mars, whose orbital resonance is 15:8, and can be approximated to 2:1, and even Saturn and Uranus, whose orbital resonances are 20:7, but can be approximated to 3:1, all of which do follow the Fibonacci sequence.
