I’ve been receiving messages and emails about people feeling bad for wanting to move to Hawaii. I’m not sure why there is this type of feeling. I’ve also seen some social media posts about people expressing a “don’t move to Hawaii” attitude. Not sure where that is coming from and I hope others know that that is not how all local people think. So I wanted to chime in on this conversation to maybe bring a little more balance to what is generally out there in social media. I think it's easier to gain social media points by telling people to stay away, but that's just not how I feel. So I want to talk as if talking to a friend who is thinking about moving to Hawaii.
No, you don’t have to feel bad for moving to Hawaii.
And who am I? I am not native Hawaiian, but I was born and raised in Hawaii, graduated from public school, went to college on the mainland, moved back to Hawaii, got a job, bought a place, got married, started a family and then started this YouTube channel. But just as those other social media individuals don’t speak on behalf of the people living in Hawaii, I don’t either and these opinions are just my own.
