There are some things that fit, but are a little tight. This “a little” means inconvenience, hinders movement, and bursts at the seams.
If you get creative, the situation can be improved.
Naturally, to expand, you need to add other fabric. If you are sewing a product from two fabrics, then pay attention to the density, it should be approximately the same, and the color scheme should also be combined.
I have already enlarged things and came to the conclusion that it is best to make inserts from fabric that stretches. I usually use knitwear, it gives extra stretch and comfort when worn.
Most often, inserts are made along the side seams, on the back, and along the chest line.
But today I’ll show you another example. It lies in the fact that from 2 different things there will be one.
Everything is so simple that you will need to do a minimum of work.
For my slim shirt, I will use a T-shirt. Here the shirt can be very small, it doesn’t matter, but the T-shirt should be no larger or smaller in size so that the sleeve fits.
How to enlarge a T-shirt.
1. I straightened the shirt evenly and connected all the seams.
2. I drew a line down from the shoulder and cut the fabric straight, as a result of which the small sleeve and part of the side seams were removed. There's a shirtfront left.
3. I placed a T-shirt under the bottom, stepped back from the sleeve cap and drew the same straight line, but with a good increase. Here we need another part - with sleeves. The remaining part of the T-shirt can be combined into another product.
4. I manually swept the shirt piece and parts from the T-shirt. This is so that after trying on you can adjust the size.
5. I sewed the seams using an overlocker.
6. I shortened the length of the shirt a little, serged the cut, turned it over and stitched.
A new shirt is ready.
Two different things found each other, the new shirt is now the right size, very comfortable and the color scheme is pleasant.
