The Operational Ration Pack is the British Military's version of an MRE. This specific 24-hour meal ready to eat is more like an ORP on steroids, designed for extreme cold climates. Arctic combat poses several challenges in feeding soldiers. Firstly, the food needs to avoid freezing, and this is achieved by providing freeze-dried components that are devoid of water. Secondly, surviving in frigid temperatures requires more calories. Therefore, these Cold Climate field rations are packed with high-energy food and drink.
