Kölsch is served chilled by waiters dressed in the traditional costume of the brewery. They carry the drinks on a circular tray specially designed for the glasses. Kolsch is light, crisp and effervescent, yet surprisingly strong. Locals crowded the brewhouses, which appeared to be a daily after work ritual. We asked our server how much of this beloved libation locals typically drink each night. He said that on average people consume 20-30 glasses, which equates to 4-6 liters of beer per person per night!! Wow!!!
