Hello my Crafty Friend, and thanks for checking out today's junk journal! I call her The Mermaid's Dream, as she is loosely based on a vintage illustration of a moonbathing mermaid set against a twilight cityscape. I imagined the mermaid to be like Ariel, a collector of human odds and ends, writing samples, scraps of clothing, ads, bits she cobbled together into a journal of lives that were, are and could be. There are painted fairies and ladies inside, as well, including Cinderella, (whose first name, the mermaid would note, begins with letters that can be pronounced sea - Ci,) who are perhaps dreaming, themselves, of a life in the sea. Inside, there's a golden Lakshmi, a few copies of a print of Goddess Diana, and Nike, illustrating a dictionary page, making this book resonant with divine feminine goddess power.
