If you’re going on a cultural trip to Tamil Nadu, then the mighty Brihadeesvara temple in Thanjavur is a must visit.

This is a shiva temple built by the first king of the Chola empire. This temple is 1000 years old and the temple tower is 217ft tall. No cement or binding material was used, this structure is only made of heavy granite stones. It is a symbol of genius Chola art and architecture.

I loved visiting this temple. There are few instances in history that leave you spellbound, and this is one of them. I would definitely come back to learn more about the Chola empire.
