Saint James the Ascetic (or Faster) was an ascetic monk who reached great heights of spiritual virtue, even becoming a wonderworking.

However, those at greater heights have longer falls and after succumbing to terrible sins, James was on the brink of despair, but his life shows that we should always have hope we can be forgiven, so long as we repent.
