Much like how we like to take up an exercise regimen in the new year, the animals at the Zoo train with our zookeepers.

Our zookeepers work with our animals to teach them important natural behaviors and life skills so we can better care for them. These behaviors are extremely helpful when it comes time for health check-ups and ensure mobility as they get older.

Here, our lioness Zamaya is doing husbandry training with Zookeeper Kimberly. Husbandry training allows Zamaya to participate in her own health care in an engaging and positive manner and allows the animal care team to ensure that she is healthy.
