Pomona Island was once the entertainment centre of Manchester, 150 years ago. A botanical pleasure garden and home to a 'palace' that was even larger than the Royal Albert Hall. The area was designed for the people of Salford and Manchester to escape the pollution of the cities.
However, in 1887 a massive explosion at a nearby chemical works destroyed the palace and the place was abandoned.
The Pomona Docklands followed but, since the 1970s, the whole area has become a wasteland.
Join Tom and I as we head onto the island and see if anything remains of its once glorious past.
