In Norway we have a unique word and concept that makes all Norwegians smile: SYDEN. YOURWAY2NORWAY produly presents a concept associated with vacation and leisure. Translated, it means the South. It's not a special country or place. It can be; Egypt, Turkey, Gran Canarias, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Gambia or Thailand. To make it Syden it needs a beach, a beach chair and an umbrella drink. It also must be cheap, warm and sunny.
But Syden it’s also a state of mind for us Norwegians. It makes us happy, cheerful and excited. But it also makes us rude, cruel and disgusting towards other cultures and people. Syden makes us alcoholics and chain smokers – and it makes us sing and dance all day long.
This video is a thorough introduction to one of the most important cultural aspects of Norwegians. If you want to understand Norwegians longings, dreams and behavior, you must watch this video.
