Nothing says a holiday gathering like a slow cooker full of warm, mulled cider. I figured out a pretty cool way to make an all natural cider from red crab apples without using a cider press, and I think you'll agree it's kind of ingenious. It's also easy to make it with 100% wild ingredients.
Crab apples are often very dry. Instead of pressing apples through a cider press, here you just use crab apple juice as if you were going to make jelly. I thin the juice with a little water to lower the pectin content, which will be noticeable (and nice) when served cold, and unnoticeable when served hot.
