Video 2 of 3 from our Summer Drumline Project's final performance on July 17th. What you see here is mostly high school aged students, a few college age, most of whom who have never performed in an ensemble beyond high school level, mostly from small programs or non-competitive programs. Mixed in are a few students who have some experience in DCA or WGI Open Class experience, and only one of them on the instrument they're playing here. Some of them actually played non-percussion instruments before this. The High School programs represented are (mostly PA) Danville, Berwick, Lake Lehman, Williamsport, Warrior Run, Montoursville, Central Dauphin, Lower Dauphin, and Horseheads (NY). We also had 3 or 4 college age students.

The goal for this project was to cast a wide and inclusive net and draw kids in who have an interest in marching percussion, but maybe don't have the confidence, experience, or maybe funds to make the jump to DCA, DCI, or WGI. The students paid a total of $280 for the season, which included a weekly private lesson in-person or virtually if they chose to take advantage of it. We wanted to give them an experience and education that would be like a bridge to get to a level beyond (under-funded) PA high schools like an introduction to drum-corps. It also served as an introduction to the activity for their parents and the community who saw them perform, where we did more clinic-style performances in June and July. In addition, we also wanted to give an opportunity just to play drums in an ensemble again, since the students hadn't really been able to do that for a long time due to Covid.

The ensemble met on Saturday's only, from 2pm until 9pm, starting in May and wrapping up in mid-July.

What's seen in this video is half of the ensemble, the front ensemble, or stationary percussionists.

Here they perform some of their warm-ups and training exercises, plus a tasty little song they learned to show off a little.

We unfortunately had to move the performance inside because of severe storms that were hitting us that day, but luckily we had a place to go.

Huge thanks to our sponsors: Dream Cymbals, Pearl Percussion, Salyers Percussion, Evans Drumheads, and Eat and Run Catering.

Thank you to Knoebels Amusement Park for hosting several of our performances this past summer!

Also, hank you to our instructional/design team, which included Alejandro Gallo, Spencer Kpakiwa, Zach Nash, Ben Mulchandani, Ryan Pritchard, and last and definitely least, Marc Garside.

Finally, a huge thanks to the parents and supporters who helped us make this possible, and even followed us into a warehouse on a stormy day to see these amazing young people throw down!

Thanks for watching! Please come back to check out our other videos!
