The Wodaabe, are the Nomads of the Sahel regions of CHAD. Once a year, after the rains, the Wodaabe celebrate in the Gerewol Festival, a courtship festival that is often referred to as a young mans beauty contest, where the girls can select the most beautiful young man, for a night of romance, or, a future husband. The young men dress up, adorned with jewellery, headdresses, and full make up, to exaggerate the whiteness of their eyes and teeth, and a dress to enhance their perfect physique and heigh. The Gerewol participants can sing and dance for 3 or more days, and nights, into the early hours of the morning, flirting, and competing, often looking like they're in a trance that is mesmerizing to the onlooker. ....
