In this extraordinary recording, Józef Paczyński (1920-2015), a former Polish prisoner of KL Auschwitz, who arrived there with the first transport on June 14, 1940, tells how he became a barber in the camp. For several years he was the barber of the camp commandant, Rudolf Hoess. While visiting his villa, he had the opportunity to take a close look at the behavior of this SS officer, one of the most notorious German criminals, and his family.
The story of Józef Paczyński has become extremely important these days, because he was a direct witness to the events that became the theme of the film THE ZONE OF INTEREST. The director of the British-Polish film is Jonathan Glazer, and the premiere took place on May 19 this year in Cannes. The film is considered by critics as a candidate for the Palme d'Or at the 76th Cannes International Film Festival. Jadwiga Hoess did not want to leave the luxurious villa, where her stay enabled her to further collect the wealth plundered from the Jews brought to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp. This house was was located right next to the Auschwitz I wall and only 150 meters from the first camp crematory.

Jest to kolejna niezwykła relacja byłego polskiego więźnia KL Auschwitz, który przybył tam z pierwszym transportem 14 czerwca 1940 roku. W obozie został fryzjerem i przez kilka lat strzygł komendanta Rudolfa Hoessa w jego domu. Miał możliwość obserwowania z bliska zachowania jednego z największych niemieckich zbrodniarzy oraz jego rodziny. Józef Paczyński wraz z kolegą, Stanisławem Dubielem, który był służącym w domu Hoessa, mieli możność obserwowania prywatnego życia rodziny zbrodniarza. Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Filmowego w Cannes. Główną postacią filmu jest Rudolf Hoess (w tej roli Christian Friedel), który był komendantem KL Auschwitz w okresie od maja 1940 do grudnia 1943, odpowiadał za budowę tego obozu, a później przekształcił go w największy niemiecki obóz zagłady.
