If you have ended up reading this, then the chances are that you have come to grief trying to part off on a small hobby lathe. This is a quick video to show how much easier it is with a rear tool post. If you can’t fit a rear tool post you can also try inverting the parting tool and running the lathe in reverse (assuming it’s safe to do so – i.e. you won’t unscrew the chuck).
