Asthi Visarjan or Asthi Nimajjanam is a Hindu ritual of immersing the ashes or bone fragments of a deceased person in a sacred body of water, usually a river or the sea. This ritual is believed to release the soul of the departed person from the cycle of rebirth and enable it to attain Moksha or liberation. Asthi Visarjan is typically performed after the cremation of the deceased, and is an important part of Hindu funeral customs and traditions.
