Built a snack bar out of two whiskey barrels and some reclaimed fir.
I first make a hammock for the barrels to sit in and start by securing the metal band to the barrels. I’ll be cutting these in half and want them to stay together. So I go through and drill a hole and screw in a lag screw to each strip to help prevent it from coming apart. Once each slat has a bolt I go ahead and cut along the seam of the barrel somewhere in the center making two pieces. Warning the sound they make as you cut will make to tense. After I cut them apart I wanted them to keep their shape so I add stretches across the back to help them stay rounded and not flair out. I use a pocket hole jig to make it easy to secure them to barrel. Once those were attached I mounted some figure 8 clips to the top to so that I’ll be able to mount the barrels to the bar top. That was it for the bases. I then cleaned up some 12’ reclaimed fir boards for the top. I cut the sides off to give myself a nice clean edge to glue them all together. Once they were done being glued up I cut the top to size then router the edge. After I go through and sand both the base pieces and the top. Once done sanding I stain and poly everything. Installing them I find a stud in the wall and screw through the top stretcher into the stud. I then layer the top on and secured it through the figure 8 clips. If you got any questions leave them in the comment. Thanks for watching.
Cheers
