Teej is a vibrant Hindu festival primarily celebrated by women in Nepal. Married women mostly take part in fasts and prayers for the long life and good health of their husbands. It is believed that if an unmarried female fasts and worships Lord Shiva, she will eventually be able to marry a decent boy. For this occasion, where females take part in dances, music, and customs, women usually wear red clothing. And women use song to express their sorrowful tales. The evening before the Teej fast begins, a lavish dinner known as "Dar" is held, generally at the mother's residence.
